Willpower - Where Does it Go?

Willpower, the ability to control oneself and determine one's actions, displaying self-control within and without.

Hey - that's a great quote, isn't it?  I snagged it from this place 20 Inspirational Quotes on Willpower.

It's a great place for inspiration and motivational sayings and I hope you will find something useful there, if you are interested.

But here's something you may not know:  willpower isn't always on-call (The One Thing, by Gary Keller), in fact, it's like a battery that starts out full in the morning and gets used up as the day goes on. Ya got no control over that, it is simply a biological fact of the human brain.

So, if you actually DO run out of willpower, would that explain why you snack more in the evening?  Why you just can't muster any energy (willpower?) to go to the gym after work?  Why you can't be polite to your last few customers of the day when you've had one heck of a stressful day?

Keller advises us, that through research, it's been discovered that willpower is like fast-twitch muscle that gets tired and needs rest.  He tells us that the food we eat is also a key player in level of will power, and that studies show gloucose levels are affected by willpower tasks/testing.  He says that to do our best, we literally have to feed our minds and that food that elevates blood sugar more evenly over long periods, like complex carbohydrates and proteins, become fuel of choice for high-achievers.

So why do YOU care? Well, you ARE trying to manifest your best life ever, aren't you?  Then wouldn't it be helpful to understand how willpower works?  As I referenced above, the book titled "The One Thing" may be something you find helpful on your manifesting journey.

In fact, just knowing that you aren't a failure because you can't seem to muster up any more willpower at certain times, should help you schedule your day and manage your willpower resources more successfully.

All the lovely posters and quotes can't do a thing for you if your willpower muscle is depleted.

I hope you found something here to add to your success toolbox.  Go out and do some research on willpower.  Study your willpower cycles and see what you think.  I'd love to hear your thoughts, so I hope you do comment, and I do hope that you are on your way to manifesting your best life ever!
